A Tour Guide is often the first, and at times the only contact that visitors from around the world will have with our facility. The hour spent with a Tour Guide should create a positive impression of our building, our teams, our operation and the overall "Garden Experience"
BASIC FUNCTION
To conduct one-hour behind the scenes walking Tours of Madison Square Garden.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct Tours for the public, speaking in a clear, concise, informative & entertaining manner.
2. Responsible for general order and safety of the tour customers.
3. Follow a predetermined route and presentation in line with MSG Public Relations considerations & company policy.
4. Surveying route for safety, cleanliness, passage, and report notes to fellow Guides and building operations/Security as needed.
5. Observe extreme vigilance regarding security of the building, the team locker room, gear and props.
6. Collection and archiving of ticket stubs.
7. Answer phone queries from the public.
Our ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in a tour-related industry with strong public speaking and communication skills. Recommended background would include, but is not limited to, experience in the theater, performing arts, or previous employment as a Tour Guide. Must possess excellent memorization and time management skills with the ability to articulate and inject energy and enthusiasm into presentation. Must be outgoing and customer service oriented. Must be able to memorize a script. Sports Fan and cash experience a plus.
HOURS: 4-7 hour shifts any time between 9am to 5pm
COMPENSATION: $13.39/hr
AVAILABILITY: At least 3 days a week. Weekends and holidays a must.
